Oooooh yes. Hilary Mantel's series on Henry VIII (Wolf Hall and Bring Up the Bodies) is fantastic. Stacy Schiff’s Cleopatra is an amazing biography that reads as smoothly as a novel. The Black Count by Tom Reiss is a fascinating look at the real story behind Dumas’s The Count of Monte Cristo. Georgette Heyer writes great drawing room novels, and Michel Faber’s The Crimson Petal and the White is one of the most innovative historical novels Jenn has had the pleasure to read.
Must read these!
